Demo v0.1.8: fullscreen, a better Volt Rush, and heavier hits

The demo now remembers your display mode, Volt Rush always dashes, and hits land with more weight. Plus fixes for falls on slopes and menu arrows that overstayed.

Cyrus casting a burst of fire magic at an armoured enemy in a forest clearing.

The demo just picked up a batch of quality-of-life work and combat feel changes. Most of this came straight out of watching people play, so keep the feedback coming in Discord.

What’s new

  • The welcome screen now lets you switch between Windowed and Fullscreen, and your choice is saved across every save file.
  • Volt Rush always dashes, even with no enemy nearby. You dash in your movement direction, or left and right if you are standing still. Enemies you pass through still take the hit.
  • Volt Rush hits feel heavier now: stronger screen shake and a brief pause on contact.
  • Enemy hits show a clearer flash, so damage is easier to read mid-fight.
  • Traditional Chinese text in Normal Days and the Archive Room has been improved, with missing lines filled in and more natural Taiwan wording.
  • Footsteps are a little quieter and no longer stack up when you spin or change direction quickly.

Fixes

  • The tuck shop vendor’s angry expression now shows during dialogue.
  • The menu selection arrow no longer stays on screen after respawning from the fail menu.
  • Falls now trigger correctly when you jump while running on sloped ground.
  • You can no longer move while a fall animation is playing.
  • The selection arrow now draws in front of pause menu and fail menu text instead of behind it.

If you have not tried it yet, the demo is on the Steam page, and wishlisting tells Steam to let you know the day the full game launches.
